Heshmat Imani, who was in prison sience 2015, was arrested on charges of “carrying 9 kg of methamphetamine, 2 kg and 200 gr of heroin and 3 AK-47 weapons” and then was transferred to Zanjan’s central prison for unknown reasons. He was hanged last day morning in Zanjan Prison.
According to Human Rights of Kurdistan of Iran; Friday, 2019 July 26; according to Iran Human Rights Organization, on the morning of Thursday, July 25, a prisoner was executed in Zanjan’s central prison. The identity of the prisoner who was sentenced to death for “drug and weapon smuggling” has been announced as Heshmat Imani, 34.
An informed source previously told about this prisoner to Iran Human Rights Organization: «Heshmat Imani was arrested for carrying 9 kg of methamphetamine, 2 kg and 200 gr of heroin and 3 AK-47 weapons. He was arrested in Qods city of Karaj and his case was prosecuted in Branch 3 of the General and Revolutionary Court of the Qods city, and he was sentenced to death, and his verdict was confirmed in the court. But for unknown reasons he was transferred to Zanjan prison. »
The Prisoner was transferred to a solitary cell on Tuesday, July 23, along with another prisoner, named Kamran Nasirifar for carrying out the Execution. Nasirifar who was sentencet to death for “deliberate murder”, succeeded to receive deadline from plaintiffs of the case and returned to his cell.
The execution of Heshmat Imani has not yet been announced by the media inside Iran until the moment.
In the first six months of 2019, at least 110 executions were done in various prisons in Iran or in public, 83 of which were executed on charges of “murder.” During this time, Iran’s media outlets only announced 37 executions, while 73 others were confirmed by the Iran Human Rights Organization.
